Royal Bingo - Lobby & Game Shell UX/UI
Continuation of the Core Gameplay Case Study
This project is a direct continuation of my Royal Bingo Core UX/UI case study, where I designed the game’s central bingo experience.
Here, the focus shifts to the "Lobby" - the living, navigational shell that surrounds gameplay, guiding players before, between, and after matches.
Project Objectives
Build an engaging hub that connects core gameplay with monetization, progression, and social systems.
Ensure clarity and speed for quick play while keeping room for deep feature exploration.
Design for live-ops adaptability with modular UI elements that can easily host new offers, seasonal content, or features.
Company
My Role
As Lead Product Designer, I was responsible for the end-to-end UX/UI design of the lobby and game shell - from early wireframes and interaction flows to final production-ready assets. I managed and mentored a team of designers, tech-artists, animators and concept artists, collaborating closely with product managers, developers, and live-ops teams to align every element with both player engagement goals and business KPIs.
My work included defining navigation structure, creating high & low fidelity mockups, and ensuring seamless integration of core gameplay, monetization systems, and social features into one cohesive player experience.

From App Launch to Lobby
The player’s journey starts with a Loading/Splash Screen that transitions into the Lobby - the central command center of Royal Bingo.
Top Bar – Persistent Currencies
The top bar keeps three key currencies in constant view:
Coins (top-left) - Used to buy power-ups and upgrades.
A “+” button links directly to the shop.
Energy (center) - Represents match entries.
An Infinity icon with a countdown timer appears when unlimited play is active. Otherwise, a “+” button lets players buy more.
Stars (top-right) - Spent in the Builder feature to advance the game’s narrative, unlocking themed locations for the Queen around the world.
Side Panels – Features & Offers
Right Side: Fixed feature icons (e.g., Builder). Clicking opens popups with progress bars, star counts, and actions.
Left Side: Rotating offer icons that change daily, weekly, or seasonally. These highlight time-limited deals not found in the standard shop. Up to five can be stacked vertically.
Primary Call-to-Action
Front and center: A large green Royal Play button with bingo card visuals, acting as the main gateway into a match.
Below are selected screens from the lobby experience, including popups, limited-time offers, system messages, and the full lobby view - showcasing how all the elements described above come together in the final design.
Bottom Navigation
Five primary tabs connect the lobby to other parts of the game:
Shop - The player’s main monetization hub.
Builder - Access to the Queen’s property-building feature.
Home/Royal Assets - Themed collectibles tied to the Builder narrative. Lobby, game hub, page.
Friends - Social features and gifting.
Profile & Settings - Player profile, preferences, and account controls.

Shop - Offers, Bundles & Rewards
The shop was designed to cater to different purchase motivations and keep content feeling fresh:
Currency Bundles – Combine coins, boosters, and limited-time Infinity Energy.
Capsules – Mystery packs with randomized rewards, adding an element of chance. Each includes an info (“i”) button to preview possible rewards.
Booster & Power-Up Packs – Targeted purchases for strategic players.
Direct Currency Deals – Discounted coin packs for quick needs.
Event-Specific Offers – Seasonal or thematic bundles tied to live-ops events.
Every purchase could be made with real money or, in certain cases, coins earned in-game - creating both free-to-play and pay-to-progress paths.
Friends System
Two tabs:
My Friends - View, search, and manage friends. Includes “People You May Know” with mutual friend counts.
Add Friends - Approve requests, search players, or invite via contacts, Facebook, or shareable links.
Quick-action popups allow Unfriend with confirmation.
Profile & Settings
Profile Tab - Shows player avatar, name, country flag, level, XP, currencies, inventory, and detailed game stats (matches played, Bingos, Royal Strikes, boosters used, 1st place finishes, etc.).
Settings Tab - Includes login options (Facebook, Apple, Phone), toggles for music/SFX/vibration, links to rules/support/policies, and a Delete Account option.
Engagement Feature
For this stage, I focused on designing the Daily Bonus system, aimed at encouraging players to return every day and rewarding long-term engagement. The feature included a 7-day reward cycle with a larger monthly prize, visually reinforced through progress bars and collectible boxes that revealed which rewards were claimed, missed, or still locked.
Unfortunately, the Daily Bonus was never implemented in the final game, but here I’m showcasing the mockups and design explorations we created to demonstrate how the system would have integrated seamlessly into the lobby experience.
Design Process
We used:
Wireframes to define navigation flow and hierarchy.
Clickable diagrams mapping every UI element to its function.
Iterative visual design to ensure clear priority between core play and optional exploration.
Key Takeaways
The lobby is the game’s heartbeat – connecting play, monetization, narrative, and community.
Modularity ensured quick adaptation to seasonal and event content.
Consistent visual hierarchy boosted both usability and monetization effectiveness.
